Happy new year! It feels a little bit strange to be saying that now we are in the second week of January (eek!), but I thought I would do a little round up of my Beauty favourites from 2018. I feel like this is a good way to start my blog in 2019!
Oh my. If you haven’t tried this yet, please do. Easily my favourite Jo Malone London fragrance. It is an Intense cologne, which means it has richer, rarer ingredients such as Myrrh, which comes from the Namibian Myrrh tree. In the base notes there are warm almond and vanilla notes from the Tonka Bean. Its so rich, creamy and long lasting too. I find this scent can be quite masculine, so if you don’t like anything flowery or too pretty, then this might be for you!
This is my first ever shimmer brick, which I got in the shade ‘Rose’. It is a natural rosey-pink highlight, that gives a soft glow to the skin. I tend to use it (after applying my blush) on the apples of my cheek, then sweeping up towards my cheekbones. I sometimes use the white highlight on its own under my brow bone to give me more of a glow. This is perfect if you like a natural highlight.
So I have spoken all about this concealer in my August favourites post here, if you fancy reading a little more in depth about this product. But it does exactly what the name suggests, gives you full coverage on those areas you need it most! I use it both under my eyes, to disguise any bags, and also on any spots/redness that I have. It really does do/hide everything.
How could I not include Chanel in my beauty favourites. Even for the packaging alone. Arthur, which is an orangey-red shade, comes in the formula ‘Rouge Coco’ – an ultra hydrating lip colour which makes the lipstick very comfortable to wear. However, due to its hydrating qualities, I do find its not that long lasting so have to keep re-applying throughout the day. I also love the fact its named after one of Chanel’s lovers and muses, Arthur ‘Boy’ Capel.
Again, I have spoken about the MAC Strobe cream before on my blog, in one of my first ever beauty posts (I will link it here, if you want to take a look).
It is still a definite favourite of mine, but is sadly nearly finished (it has lasted so long!). MAC Strobe cream can be used before foundation as a primer, mixed in with foundation, or used after foundation to give your skin a glow. I use it mainly after moisturiser/ before foundation as a glowy base, it really does perk up my skin and make it look more awake. I have the shade ‘Peach Lite’ which leaves a peachy, luminous glow, but they also have four other shades to choose from depending on you and your skin tone.
Thats all of my beauty favourites from 2018. Of course, there were lots more, but this post would have been so long if I was to list everything! Let me know if you had any beauty favourites from 2018, or if there is anything I should try in 2019…
