An introduction to Dermalogica Skincare.

Hello, hope you are all well! Going back to the start of November, I was lucky enough to be gifted some skincare products from the brand Dermalogica.Β

Dermalogica is a brand that creates skincare products for skincare professionals, that are free from irritants and ingredients that could lead to breakouts. The products are created fuss free and designed to give you your healthiest skin.

I was so excited to be gifted some of their products as part of their Skinfluencer programme, as I really agree with the ethos behind the brand. As someone who suffered with spots in the past and still suffers occasionally with breakouts, the products really intrigued me. Here’s what was hand picked for me;

Dermalogica Skincare review

Dermalogica PreCleanse* – This product is used to remove any makeup before cleansing, to ensure you have ultra clean skin. As it’s an oil cleanser, it melts away any makeup quickly and easily (even eye make-up, without stinging!) and leaves the skin so soft, ready for the next step in my routine.

I love this product as it’s so quick to use and there is no faffing with cotton pads. I warm one pump of the precleanse in my hands before rubbing over my face. This breaks down any surface oil, dirt and many other residual products that have been built up on the skin throughout the day. I then wet my hands, which transforms the oil into a milky emulsion, leaving the skin soft and cleansed.

Dermalogica Special cleansing gel* – After using the Precleanse, I then use the special cleansing gel to ensure my skin is thoroughly clean. This is a soap-free, foaming gel which is suitable for all skin types. I love a gel facial wash as I find them so easy to use and this one doesn’t dry the skin out due to it’s soap free formula. It is lightweight and mild enough to use twice a day and has soothing ingredients such as Balm mint and Lavender, which is perfect for me as it helps calm any redness that I may have.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant* – This is a product in my routine that I would never have normally used. In the past, I have used exfoliators but nothing like this…

This is a daily exfoliating powder to be used after cleansing, to help achieve brighter, smoother skin. It is a rice-based powder that activates when in contact with water. To use, I put around half a teaspoon of product into wet hands (they need to be thoroughly wet) and rub my hands together to create a paste. I then gently massage into my skin for around a minute (avoiding the eye area) before rinsing off with warm water.

This product has many great ingredients such as Salicylic Acid – which is great for people who suffer with breakouts, as it helps remove debris that clogs pores. Papain (from Papaya – a fruit) which helps reduce inflammation and helps fight acne. Licorice – to help balance uneven skin tones.

Even though this product is gentle enough to use daily, at the moment I only use it twice a week as its something very new to my skincare routine. I have noticed it really does leave my skin looking healthy and so soft. Once I have used this for a couple more weeks, I will start using it more regularly.

Dermalogica skincare review

Dermalogica skin smoothing cream* – This is one of Dermalogica’s best selling moisturisers, that now gives skin 48 hours of continuous hydration, whilst helping protect the skin from environmental stress!

I use this twice a day, morning and night, after I have cleansed to ensure my skin is hydrated. Even though I have more of an oily skin type and the 48 hour hydration slightly scared me, I have found that it isn’t too heavy for my skin. It makes sure my dry areas are moisturised, but also keeps my oily areas (T-zone) matte.

Dermalogica Skin perfect primer*This tinted primer is to be worn after moisturiser on its own, or before foundation to help even out any uneven skin tone. This creates a smoother base for makeup. It also helps make-up last longer.

This is the one product from the range I haven’t tested out too much. I am waiting to use this properly in the spring / when I go on holiday, as that’s when I want a lighter base and I can really test out its staying power. This primer also has SPF 30, which is amazing, as it means that you are always protected from sun damage. I really can’t wait to use this in the warmer months!

I hope you have enjoyed my round up of the Dermalogica products that were handpicked for me. I love how their packaging is straight to the point and how all of their products are trusted by skincare professionals, which makes me trust them.

I will keep you updated if there are any changes, but so far I haven’t experience any breakouts/irritations to my skin, only how soft and healthy it has been looking recently.

Let me know if you have tried any Dermalogica Skincare products in the comments below.

    1. Ah amazing! Do you use it everyday or just a couple of times a week? I’m slightly scared to use it daily!
Thankyou for taking the time to read it xx

      1. Approx. once a week although, it is super gentle and could be used daily. Lisa Eldridge says she uses it inbetween photo shoots on her models to give them a healthy glow. I really like it. A very thin layer is all that is needed and it dries within a minute on the skin. xxx
